Mr Taxi, Number 1 for disabled transport
  History

Our first vehicle, 582 HLM, a Beardmore Paramount MkVll was first registered in February 1964 although the model first went into production in 1954 which explains the dated appearance. Having worked the streets of London for around 20 years it retired into the hands of an ex-London cabbie and Taxi enthusiast who lovingly cherished and maintained it keeping the vehicle in a similar condition to that which it is seen to this day.

This Beardmore Taxi is one of only 656 of this model that were ever made and only a handful survive to this day most of which are used as Wedding cars due to their popularity and their unique design.

Beardmore Taxi's were quite prominent in London in the mid to late sixties but due to their superior build quality their price was somewhat higher than the main competitor, the Austin FX4 Taxi and over a period of time this led to the demise of Beardmore Motors as a company and the Paramount MkVll gradually disappeared to be superseded by the characterless FX's and LTI Taxis that are seen today.

Our second Beardmore (VHU 112) is the later 1966 model with the fourth door at the front nearside giving the enclosed luggage space and fitted with the later four-speed gearbox. It was acquired by us in 2007 and enables us to offer the option of twin vehicle hire for clients who would like matching cars for the Bridal and Bridesmaid/ Escort cars. When seen together we are sure you will agree that they really make a great spectacle for the wedding photographs.
